Emergencies

Yes	Does your child have any of the following symptoms that require emergency treatment? Call 911 or other emergency services immediately.

• Choking. Go to the topic Choking Rescue Procedure (Heimlich Manoeuvre). Do not perform the Heimlich manoeuvre if the person is still coughing or is able to speak.
• Moderate to severe difficulty breathing occurs:
  • In children.
  • In adults and older children.

Yes	Is a disc battery stuck in the nose? Disc batteries are found in toys, calculators, hearing aids, cameras, and watches.
Yes	Is an object or part of an object stuck in the nose after attempts to remove it?
Yes	Do you think you have an infection after an object has been removed from the nose?
Yes	Do you have mild to moderate difficulty breathing after removing an object from the nose?
