Magnesium (Mg)

Results

A magnesium test measures the level of magnesium in the blood. Normal values may vary from lab to lab. Results are usually available in 1 to 2 days.

Normal

Magnesium blood level
Adult:

1.3–2.1 mEq/L or 0.65–1.05 mmol/L

Child:

1.4–1.7 mEq/L or 0.7–0.85 mmol/L

Newborn:

1.4–2 mEq/L or 0.7–1.0 mmol/L
