Fever in babies younger than 3 months of ageFever is often the only symptom of a
urinary tract infection (UTI) in a young baby. Fever
often occurs with a
kidney infection and may occur with a
bladder infection. Call your health professional if your baby has a fever. An untreated
UTI can cause scarring of the
urinary
tract . Prompt treatment can prevent the development of serious
complications. Newborns have immature
immune systems, so they require earlier evaluation of
fevers than do older babies and children.
