Central nervous system causes of vertigoVertigo is usually caused by problems in the inner ear
(peripheral causes), but it also can be caused by problems in the brain
(central causes). Brain-related causes of vertigo are less common than inner
ear causes and are treated differently. Head injury, stroke or transient
ischemic attack involving the brain stem, brain tumours, multiple sclerosis,
certain infections, and certain types of seizures are examples of brain-related
causes of vertigo.
