Recurrence of peptic ulcer Factors that may increase the risk that an
ulcer will recur include: - Persistent Helicobacter
pylori (H. pylori)
infection.
- Continued use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
(NSAIDs).
- Cigarette smoking.
- Hypersecretory conditions
(conditions in which the stomach produces excessive acid).
- Past
history of ulcer recurrence or ulcer complications.
