Other conditions with symptoms similar to scabies
The symptoms of scabies may resemble a variety of other skin disorders, including but not limited to the following:
- Allergic skin reaction, such as contact dermatitis or atopic dermatitis (eczema)
- Insect, tick, or flea bites or infestations with other parasites
- Hives
- Infection of the hair follicles (folliculitis)
- Impetigo, a bacterial skin infection
- Dry skin
- Psoriasis, a skin condition that causes raised, red patches covered by silvery or scaling skin
- Drug reactions
