Ring block anesthesia for circumcisionRing block anesthesia is a type of anesthesia used for
circumcision. A health professional injects a numbing
medication (such as lidocaine) in a ring pattern around the shaft of the penis.
About three injections are made to complete the ring pattern. The injections
may cause some pain or bruising. This type of anesthesia may provide the most effective pain
prevention for circumcision.
